THE WAR, a seven-part series produced by American documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, is the story of the Second World War through the personal accounts of men and women from four different American towns.
In partnership with Burns, PBS, local-affiliate OETA, the Oklahoma Historical Society and NewsOK, The Library of Congress Veterans History Project was created in an effort to collect, preserve and share the personal stories from veterans who served on the frontline and at home. Stories submitted to the website were eligible for acceptance into The National Archives in Washington D.C.
This website also includes an interactive media center with stories and photos from The Oklahoman, video interviews from OETA and artifacts from the 45th Division Museum.
