THE WAR, a seven-part series directed and produced by American documentary filmmaker, Ken Burns, is the story of the Second World War through the personal accounts of men and women from four different American towns.
As part of a national initiative by PBS and Burns, The Library of Congress Veterans History Project was created in an effort to collect, preserve and share the personal stories from veterans who served on the front line and at home.
In a partnership between PBS affiliate OETA, the Oklahoma Historical Society and NewsOK, the Oklahoma World War II site was launched to collect personal Oklahoma stories and historical accounts. Stories submitted to the site are eligible for acceptance to the project and will be archived in Washington D.C.
This site also includes an interactive media center with stories and photos from The Oklahoman, video interviews from OETA and artifacts from the 45th Division Museum.
